Willowsong struggled to keep her urge to hurl under the radar as she shot venom-laced glares to the other wolves.










Wildfire watched Zero closely. His eyes were full of questions.

Senkah just took it that she didn't like all the staring.









Zero was silent for a few moments longer, but it seemed like an eternity. Finally, she said, "Y'know something?... I'm trying not to like you. But I'm failing miserably."

Willowsong stared ahead, towards the densite. "What are we doing?"









Wildfire smiled- a sincere, warm one, not his usual oafish grins. "I love you, too."

"Pick a den. There's plenty of empty ones."








For the first time that day, Zero smiled a bit. She licked his ear.

After poking her head into several dens, each bigger than the last, Willowsong finally settled on a small den surrounded by rocks. The insides were covered in moss, and the dirt floor was soft.








"Zero," Wildfire began, "How would you like it if I asked you to come take over a pack with me? Be the alphas?"

Zero blinked a bit. "Well... okay." She wouldn't have said no; she just hadn't expected that. She looked back towards her pack... She loved Stonepack, but she loved Wildfire more. It was time to move on. "Which one?"

Wildfire crossed his paws, raising his head in contemptment. "Pine Pack. They are weak."[/quote]







Zero nodded. "Yes. I don't even know if they have alphas right now. Or at least, functioning ones."[/quote]
Wildfire's tail wagged. "Let's go, then."[/quote]






Zero rose to her paws. She stretched out slowly... and then bolted off towards Pinepack's land.[/quote]
Wildfire came up behind her, panting, yet there was a huge smile plastered on his face. "So... What does one do to take over a pack? Remember, I used to be a loner. And, on that subject, what does an alpha do, exactly?"[/quote]
"We have to challenge them for the position. If they lose, we take over." Zero licked her chops, and wrinkled her nose as they entered the territory. Oh boy. I better get used to these pinesap smells real quick. "Basically, they watch over the pack, lead the pack into battle, and accept new wolves and stuff. They're the leaders, essentially."[/quote]
Wildfire sat down on his haunches, a calculating look in his eyes. "They're vulnerable. No potential allies, I believe."[/quote]
"Nope." She marked her scent on a tree. She felt strange as she conveyed a different message while doing it... not only was she marking her territory, she was also showing that this was HER land, along with Wildfire's, and that THEY were alpha. "Are their alphas even around?" She then tilted her head back and howled loudly for the alphas.[/quote]

After staring thoughtfully into the distance for some time, Wildfire licked his chops. "Because of this, would Senkah and Hades send out war declarations?"[/quote]


"I doubt it. Senkah doesn't believe in forcing wolves to be in her pack."

Faedon slowed down once they neared the mountains. The sharp rocks would likely cut into Phoenix's pads and hurt him until his paws got used to the rocky terrain. She picked her way to the densite.
Phoenix felt a couple jabs to his pads, but shrugged them off. He followed closely behind Faedon, and as the scent of Stonepack became stronger, his nervousness started to swell inside of him.

They were almost to the densite, when a flying blur of white hurled into Faedon's new mate, sending him flying. He let out a grunt as he landed, and felt a small, but strong paw press down on his neck. Sierra snarled, and looked back for Faedon. She may be blind, but the smart she-wolf had learned to judge distances and attack using her sense of smell and hearing.

Faedon whirled around, and her fur fluffed out angrily. "Sierra! Let him go!" she snarled, and snapped her jaws inches from Sierra's face as a warning. "He's my mate!"
Sierra stumbled off and looked at Faedon with astonished eyes. "He's WHAT?!"

"Yes, he is!" Faedon snapped. "Don't jump to conclusions so quickly! You're supposed to question loners before attacking, anyway!" With a huff, she turned, her back facing Sierra in a pointed way. Her gaze shifted from irritation to concern as she gazed down at Phoenix. "Are you okay, Phoenix?"
"Well I was going to question him...." Sierra mumbled, her ears drooping. Phoenix got to his paws and shook off. "Yup. Oh, and um, Sierra? Is it?" The white she-wolf nodded. "Nice attack. I'll have to try and remember that. Good stealth too, never even heard you coming." he smiled. Phoenix was just friendly like that. Sierra looked horribly confused, but also very proud as she said, "Thanks."

Faedon flicked her ears irritably, as though something was lodged in them. "Let's go, Phoenix. The densite's this way." Holding her tail high, Faedon loped to the densite. Whenever the other wolves would growl or eye Phoenix suspiciously, she would growl back at them to ward them off. "Ma? Dad?"

Senkah stretched, and padded out of her den. She looked slightly surprised, but wasn't suspicious, which was odd. "Who's this?"
Phoenix held his tail high, and flashed a friendly smile at Senkah. Sierra padded past with a rabbit in her jaws.

"This is Phoenix, ma," Faedon explained. "He's... he's kind of my mate. Can he join Stonepack?" Faedon lowered her head, and looked a bit apprehensive.

A warm smile creeped up on the corners of Senkah's muzzle. "You're a loner, right?" Her gaze darkened a bit as she added, "Not from Darkpack?"
"No ma'am." Phoenix shook his head. "I actually haven't ever been part of a pack..." he shrugged.

Senkah's smile returned again. "Good. You can join this pack, then."

Faedon's eyes lit up, and her tail wagged. Senkah smiled when she saw her daughter's reaction.

Willowsong's head was a-swim with thoughts as she used pheasant feathers to line her new nest. She felt a great sense of peace from this territory; the atmosphere in DarkPack's land was much more... dark. She liked the territory and the densite. It will be all ours soon, she thought with a smirk.

Cody was dragging in a deer pelt to his den.

When she caught a whiff of the strange wolf, Willowsong whipped around. She eyed the deer pelt with curiosity. "What are you gonna be doing with that?"

"Hades is even more gentle than she is. Senkah mainly runs the pack, anyway."
