Later, there was a howl at the border of Sagepack. Faedon hurried to see who it was; it was a brownish-red wolf. "Who are you?" Faedon barked.

Instantly, the wolf crouched down and tucked her tail. "Cedar," she whimpered.

"I hate my pack and they're trying to kill me," Cedar whimpered.

"What pack?" Faedon asked, "and why?"

"Darkpack," Cedar explained, "I-I overheard Eagle say something about destroying Snowpack, and she said I couldn't live after hearing what I did!"

Stone kicked a rock across the ice of the stream that ran by the Sagepack camp.

Whisper was cleansing herself from the caribou's crimson blood. Her ears quivered to the tinking noise from Stone's kicking. She lifted her eyes skyward and discovered it was Stone, "What you doing?" She asked, rolling onto her paws.

Faedon took the wolf called Cedar back to the Sagepack camp, where Senkah questioned her. Hades eyed the newcomer suspiciously; he let his mate accept new wolves into the pack, but he didn't like the way this wolf made him feel.

"Now, Cedar," Senkah said, her voice serious, "I need you to tell me everything you heard."

"Eagle said... First, they would slowly pick off Snowpack wolves. Then, she would attack Dawnpack, and kill them and take their land. She said that... she said she'd kill you last, and make sure you saw Sagepack die slowly first."
