runner-call crosses?

Around this area people were using call/runner crosses for herding. Someone told me the cross produced a calmer duck with a bit more leg. From the pictures it looks like a lot more leg

. Very cute.

Oh that's interesting, I had no idea. Here people use Khaki Campbells. I have one that was used by her last owners for that and she is extremely fast, and a bit neurotic from being chased by dogs. These guys do look leggy, I can't wait until I get some quacks. I handled them and all but one had a 'quacky' peep so hopefully they'll be mostly hens.

So sad that the duck was chased by dogs. I'm hoping I get females out of my latest crop also. Maybe in a couple more weeks I will be able to tell the difference. This is the latest batch, 4 are 2 weeks old the others just over a week.

My Khaki Campbell was used to teach Collies to do herding for 5 years, she'll always be freaked out about dogs and by being herded into the night pen by me, poor girl.

Oh these babies are SO cute! what kind are they? Today I am beginning to hear a bunch of baby quacking, now I have to figure out who's doing it.

Calls

These are my Call/Runner babies at 6 weeks, from the quacks I have 6 hens and one drake, YAY!!!. The drake is the one in the center with the freckle chest and the spot on the side of his head, he likes to whistle back and forth with me, he's so cute. The black and white little duck is the Mom.
