Here are a couple more pics of my ducklings that just hatched today. I have two still in the incubator drying off, so will post more later. Four of the eight have hatched so far. It will be interesting to see what color they turn out to be. The drake is blue and I have black, buff, and fawn and white females. They all seem to have that light colored chest. I love them already.

Tia, they are just so cute.... Nothing else is as adorable as a newly hatched duckling just fluffed up but still a little floppy .

Thanks - I love them. Only half of them hatched today, so hoping for more tomorrow and hoping they all get along. I want harmony in the brooder.

They are GORGEOUS!! I have been hatching some that same color--blue with the bright yellow chest and neck. I've been calling them "tuxedo blues," and they have become my favorite--they also sell really, really well once people see them in person because they're so adorable. I retained a couple from this batch because I want to see how they grow out.

I believe mine are probably from my black drake mixed with fawn/white hens, but it may be that my fawn/white drake is mating with blue hens. It's just that the black drake is dominant and I never actually see the fawn/white drake mate. On the other hand, I'm also getting a lot of blacks with a yellow bib, so maybe that's from my fawn/white drake mating my black hens...?

Anyway--they are gorgeous and I'd love to see what they look like when they grow out. Thanks for sharing the pics.

P.S. I always have harmony in the brooder. Duckling are so peaceful--I've never had trouble with ducks of similar age not getting along, except one group of adults under extenuating circumstances. So I wouldn't worry. If only *people* were that peaceable.

iamcuriositycat - I have a blue drake, and black, buff, and fawn/white females. I would like to see what yours look like. How old are they? My two lighter ones looked buff colored when hatched, when they dried they look a lot different.

AWWWWW........They are so sweet!!! Makes me long for runners! LOL.
