Runner ducklings?

Definitely Runner Ducks..Hope that's what you wanted...

I actually picked out the darker ones but my friend wanted them.... so in a way they are exactly what I picked out hahaha!

I just thought they were Pekin/Khakis or something more usual like that

Where did you get them?

A feed store special. Just out of the assorted duck bin. Nothing special!

If you got Runners then you got something special. They are really great ducks.

My first thought when my friend some what stuck me with them at the last minute was “oh well we can always raise them up with the others then eat them....”.

But I can’t imagine Runners eat well lol so I guess we will be raising them for eggs!

I hope they turn out looking pretty cool!

Okay, then there’s a pretty good chance they are not runners. There are only 4 varieties of Runners that any hatchery carries, (chocolate, black, blue, fawn and white) and I don’t see any of those colors here.

They taste fine! Not too much meat/fat on the bird; but enough for roasting them whole, and eat from for 2-4 persons (depends how big (meat)eaters you have.. my partner eats for two and me for 1 and it is enough, so 2 adults + two children will probably be enough too) and to make soup from the carcass with it's left over meat the next day.
We love to mariante them in chinese mastersauce or do a crispy roast duck recipe like with pekin duck. I'm getting hungry..

The tiny wings KILL me - they are so so funny. I have two little TSC specials at home that I bought on impulse, they are brown, I reckon Khaki Campbells? and those little winglets just crack me up. But I LOVE how they tilt their little heads to the side to look up at me. Like "Yes? You rang?"
