I brought two of my beloved females over to a friends house. (She also has ducks) and we set them into her huge pen. Immediately, Harrison, a feisty Rouen duck, mated with one of my females (who is a runner.)

Do you think this will produce healthy babies? I didn't want it to happen in the first place, but I wasn't paying close enough attention. I watched them to make sure he didn't mate with my other duck.

Anyway, tell me what you think. I'm a little concerned.

If the mating didn't hurt her[ heavy breed mating with a light breed] then I can't see why the ducklings wouldn't be healthy But just because they mated one time doesn't mean her egg will be fertile, how long has she been layi ng or has she just started. I'd be more concerend with a heavy Rouen hurting your Light weight Runner.

How long ago was the mating?
