Hello, we got our Runner ducks (3) last spring and have had them for about a year. I have read that they take some time to start laying, and someone started laying in the Fall of last year. We have had one egg a day since then. I have no idea which one is laying, and for a while have thought that perhaps that they have been taking turns or that they were laying out somewhere in the yard as they free ranged all summer and fall in the nice weather. We moved them inside into a shed with a penned in outdoor area and then caged in area when the snow reached more than 3 ft. Anyway - the issue - in the last week we started getting 2 eggs a day, one sometimes with a soft shell, and now today a very small, very soft third egg. Is this normal? We got all ducks at the same time from TSC and raised them all together. One is a bit smaller than the other two and I wonder if she is just "hitting her stride"? Any ideas? No one seems to be in bad spirits or have any issues. Any advice would be appreciated as my husband has already called to get 10 more sexed runner chicks ready for pick up this weekend! Thanks!

Are they getting a calcium supplement? They might be having difficulty making the eggs, and since you said you're getting soft-shelled eggs calcium could be an issue.
