runners

That's the problem with the word never

Generally they don't, but they can.

Some of my runners are loud, and some are not. But they aren't loud all day, they are loud in short stints throughout the day. They are loud when I let them out in the morning (but it's just not the runners, everyone is loud then) and they get loud when they put themselves to bed. Throughout the day one of them will make a 5 quack that sounds like they are laughing at a joke, that will get a few others to "laugh" too.

My neighbor two houses down came down to the park the other morning to tell me how much she enjoys hearing my ducks throughout the day. All my neighbors seem to like the ducks. When they have guests they like to show off my ducks

Congratulations! I have 10 runners that are 3 weeks old and they definitely know who their meal ticket is!!! I don't think they are terribly loud except when they want something but I guess I'll find out too as they get older!

I have one chocolate runner female, for the most part she has been fairly quiet, actually both my female ducks have been until recently. I would typically only hear them quack around 6 to 6:30am when it was time for them to be let out of their pen. After that they were quiet the rest of the day. Now for the last 2 months or so, my chocolate runner Cocoa squacks contantly! It's seriously annoying and now we are getting complaints from the neighbors about it. I don't know what to do to keep her duck lips quiet!? I make sure she has clean pool water, clean drinking water, food and all she does is run around and squak. We brought home two male ducks in hopes that maybe it will quiet her down...nope. She runs around in a circle pattern with her neck straight out...squak..squak...squak. Once she quiets down, if we make a noise in the sun room, open the slider door or let the dogs out she starts up again. Right now she seems to be the leader of the pack and always has been. She didctates where the pack goes to and they follow her. I'm not sure if this is something she picked up from being around the dogs who can bark a lot more during the summer when neighbors are out weed eating and mowing. I don't know, I wish I understood why all of a sudden she is doing this so I can make it stop!! :)
