He took a deep breath and nodded. "Can I see Snowpaw? I don't have any blisters or anything like that, so she won't be able to get it from me very easily yet."

She cast a glance at Owlherb, hoping for confirmation. If Snowpaw was careful, then perhaps. After all, Lilyflight had seen Bramblestar.

Owlherb thought for a moment, then nodded. "Just keep her away from Bramblestar and don't let her see him either. She'll get anxious if she sees Bramblestar."

Rosepaw let out a sigh of relief. At least he could still see Snowpaw!

She nodded. “I’ll get her.”

Snowpaw was curled in her best but not asleep, and when Floodlight entered she lifted her head anxiously.

“Would you like to see him?”

“Of course!” She got to her paws.

“Just be careful and don’t touch him, alright?”

“Okay...”

They went to the medicine den and Snowpaw crouched beside him.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Just a tiny bit scared and a bit itchy, although Floodlight's herbs are really helping." He didn't mention Bramblestar so she wouldn't look back at him and see how bad he was doing

Smokereed reached the cave and began looking around for an all black flower

“That’s good...” She sensed there was something he wasn’t telling her, but she didn’t press it.

He sighed contentedly. As long as Snowpaw was near him, he was happy. Whether he was on the verge of death or the best he's ever been, he was always happy and content when he was near her.

She knew he felt happy and so did she. He didn’t seem to be in much pain and that soothed her. “Do you think you’ll be able to sleep well?”
