“They’re growing up so fast,” she murmured, starting on her prey.

Featherkit drank happily.

“Hello. I just came to see how Lilyflight’s doing.” She padded across the den and started sniffing her wounds and gently pressing down on a couple places on her body. “You’re still tired?”

“Yes.”

“Have you eaten much?”

“Not really.”

"They are." he agreed

(For a moment I thought instead of Featherkit that said Floodlight and I was really confused XD)

"I tried to get her to eat a bit more today." Bramblestar mewed

Soon, Snowfrost has finished her meal, and she lay her head down. “So, what’s been happening?”

(Lol you had me worried for a second)

“That’s good,” Floodlight nodded, pausing briefly as she smelled infection. She had known it was coming, but it still frustrated and worried her. She tracked it down to Lilyflight’s reopened fox wound. She rapidly began to make a poultice of marigold and horsetail.

Soon, Snowfrost has finished her meal, and she lay her head down. “So, what’s been happening?”

"Not much. I just went on a couple of patrols, that's all."

“Nothing big has happened or anything?” She still found it difficult to be convinced to the nursery so much, even though she loved her kits and didn’t mind staying with them.

“See, when she first got the wound, the cut was clean,” Floodlight explained. “But when Darksky reopened it, she made it bigger and more jagged.”

She nodded, knowing that Lilyflight had been back for a few days now. “Is she doing alright? I heard that she got injured.” Her voice was laced with concern.

“No, it isn’t,” she agreed, binding the wound with a thick layer of cobwebs.

“What did the Dark Forest do?” she demanded, snarling slightly. She tightened her tail’s grip on her kits.

“This’ll have to do for now,” she declared. “I’ll check on her again later and make sure it hasn’t spread. Keep an eye on her and get her to eat as much as you can. If she gets more drowsy, then come get me.”

Featherkit heard his mother snark and looked up, frightened.

Guilt washed over Snowfrost as she realized she had scared him. “I’m sorry,” she murmured, licking his ears. “I just got a little upset, that’s all.”

Floodlight nodded and briefly placed a comforting paw on Lilyflight’s flank before leaving to collect more marigold from the forest.
