She licked his shoulder respectfully and touched noses with her new mentor. They both had calm and thoughtful eyes as they touched noses, forming the bond.

Redfrond watched the ceremony, glad Bramblestar was assigning him another apprentice so soon. He started the chant of calling out his new name

“You’re apprentices!” Lilyflight purred loudly as she licked her kits happily.

“We’re gonna make you proud!” Brackenkit promised.

“You already have,” she responded warmly.

Snowfrost purred as her kits tumbled around her paws.

“Now,” she purred, nosing her kits. “I wouldn’t want to get in trouble with your mentors for stealing their apprentices!” Her eyes glittered teasingly. “You better see if they want anything from you.”

“Okay.” With a final lick to his mother’s cheek, Brackenpaw left the leader’s den to check in with Rosethorn.

“Congratulations on becoming an apprentice,” Snowfrost praised. “I know you’ll do well.”
