After making sure they were really asleep, she went over and groomed Sunshine's body. Even though she knew that Sunshine would come back, it wouldn't be the same. Would Sunshine even know of her past like Thistlekit and Rainkit? With these thoughts, she couldn't stop a couple more tears while she carefully prepared her friend's body for burial.
Sunstrike moved closer to Lilyflight, drawing comfort from her sweet, familiar scent. "I'm gonna miss her." She mewed, helping Lilyflight groom her
"So will I," she said quietly, unsure whether she was allowed to tell anyone. Lilyflight gave her a comforting lick on the ears.
All of a sudden a thought struck her, "What about the prophecy? Cat of the Sun?"
"Yes? What's your thought about it?"
Emberfeather curled over the body and slightly stumbled. "Kits.... I'm so sorry Sunshine... I wanted you to meet them so bad.... They will be my closest thing to you i have.... I will watch your kits and raise them as my own..." Emberfeather rubbed some lavender into the fur of her friend.
Ravenwing stood at the entrance to Feathersky's den. "It wasn't your fault. She gave permission and Howlstar said it was to late..."
If only she knew how close to Sunshine her kits will actually be. Or at least, one kit in particular. She felt her heart break as she watched the scene playing out in front of her.
Emberfeather locked her gaze and deep grief in her eyes. "I'll miss her." Birdkit managed to get to Emberfeather and pressed to her soft pelt. Emberfeather curled her tail around the grieving kit. Batkit joined and laid down and they both pressed to her side. "We'll all miss her." Emberfeather mewed.
All she could manage was a small nod. Lilyflight sat next to them and gently stroked the kit's pelts with her tail.
