“You didn’t attack her on purpose,” she meowed firmly. “We need to figure out what this is and get it taken care of, but whatever it is, it’s not your fault. I don’t want to hear you blaming yourself for something out of your control.” She gave him a lick on the ears. His voice wavered as he mewed "What kind of leader attacks their own Clanmates? He slumped his shoulder and hung his head, the perfect image of a defeated cat. "I don't think there's any cure to whatever this is. It gets stronger every day, and soon it's going to take control permanently. I can't keep fighting it every second, I'm only a cat for StarClan's sake!"“You didn’t attack her on purpose,” she meowed firmly. “We need to figure out what this is and get it taken care of, but whatever it is, it’s not your fault. “I know.” For a moment she almost shared his despair, knowing he was right. Then she shook herself. “I know,” she repeated. “But you can’t give up. I’m going to keep trying, but it’ll be whole lot easier for me if you keep trying, too. There has got to be a way to stop this!”He slumped his shoulder and hung his head, the perfect image of a defeated cat. "I don't think there's any cure to whatever this is. It gets stronger every day, and soon it's going to take control permanently. I can't keep fighting it every second, I'm only a cat for StarClan's sake!"
He nodded. "I'll still try." He promised. "But I think it'll be best for the Clan if.... if I left for a little while. Larkpaw told me about a barn a little ways East of the Thunderpath."“I know.” For a moment she almost shared his despair, knowing he was right. Then she shook herself. “I know,” she repeated. “But you can’t give up. I’m going to keep trying, but it’ll be whole lot easier for me if you keep trying, too. “A barn?” Her ears pricked with interest. “It sounds good, but what will happen if you’re on your own? What if you get too ill to hunt for yourself?” Her eyes glittered with worry. He nodded. "I'll still try." He promised. "But I think it'll be best for the Clan if.... if I left for a little while. Larkpaw told me about a barn a little ways East of the Thunderpath."
"Then I'll take Thistlefern with me." He mewed firmly, raising his head. "You can come and check in on us every half moon or so."“A barn?” Her ears pricked with interest. “It sounds good, but what will happen if you’re on your own? What if you get too ill to hunt for yourself?” Her eyes glittered with worry.
“But would that mean that I’m in charge while you’re gone? I- I don’t know if I’m ready to look after the whole Clan yet.”"Then I'll take Thistlefern with me." He mewed firmly, raising his head. "You can come and check in on us every half moon or so."
He looked in her eyes and gave her a lick on her cheek. "Lilyflight, I'm a danger to the Clan. I can't stay here. Please, I know you can do it, that's why you're deputy."“But would that mean that I’m in charge while you’re gone? I- I don’t know if I’m ready to look after the whole Clan yet.”
She returned the lick. “Okay,” she sighed. He looked in her eyes and gave her a lick on her cheek. "Lilyflight, I'm a danger to the Clan. I can't stay here. Please, I know you can do it, that's why you're deputy."
