Spottedleaf helped Aspenkit onto Thistleferns back before turning back into Hazelkit and hopping onto Rainbird's back. "Please make the right decision." Hazelkit mewed as Rainbird led the way back to camp with Thistlefern following. Rainbird beckoned to Snowpaw to follow and leave Floodpaw alone to think

Aspenkit again stared at Hazelkit as if she’d just grown a second head after thanking her for the help.

Snowpaw followed them, so tired she couldn’t see very well.

Floodpaw sat and took a deep, shuddering breath. She couldn’t do it, she just couldn’t. But Spottedleaf said she had to. She had to try, she couldn’t make it worse, right? But what if she somehow managed to? But Floodpaw knew she couldn’t stand to watch her Clan die around her and know that she hadn’t even tried to help them. That was what settled it. She had to become a medicine cat.

Once they got to camp, Hazelkit scampered into the nursery and curled beside Sunstrike.

Rainbird and Thistlefern went on a hunting patrol once they got back to camp

Snowpaw went straight to the apprentice’s den and curled up beside Rosepaw.

Aspenkit had soon done the same as his sister.

Floodpaw started walking back to camp.

Hazelkit curled around him and soon fell asleep.

Rosepaw sleepily and clumsily licked her ear before falling asleep again.

Before she went on patrol, Rainbird told Bramblestar he would be getting a visit from Floodpaw soon. Bramblestar stood by the gorse tunnel waiting for her

He fell asleep, feeling content.

She purred drowsily and drifted off.

Floodpaw stopped and looked at Bramblestar nervously. He knew too?
