*Running with the Flood* A Warrior Cat RP~Open~

She pinpointed the scent and dropped into the hunter’s crouch, keeping her tail low but not low enough to brush the leaves, and setting her paws down as lightly as a mouse scampering over frost in the dead of leaf-bare. The vole noticed her, but it was too late, and she killed it with a swift bite to the neck.
Redfrond felt his chest swell with pride. So far she's passed all her tests with amazing scores. I can see this one will be no different.

Snowpaw scraped dirt and dead leaves over her catch and opened her mouth in the hopes of catching another scent. She wasn’t disappointed, as a mouse scuttled in front of her, practically into her paws, and she killed it with a blow to the head.

That mouse didn't even stand a chance! It practically jumped into her mouth! Rainbird thought, bemused

Why did that mouse just run into my paws? It seemed... confused. Cautiously, she sniffed the gray body and, sure enough, there was the smell of sickness clinging to its rather skinny frame. No, you’re not coming back to camp! She kicked a very thick layer of dirt, leaves, grass, twigs, and other small shrubbery onto the mouse and washed her paws thoroughly in the river.

Redfrond emerged from a nearby bush. "What's going on?" He sniffed the spot where she had covered it and his fur spiked up. "Uh... nevermind. Please continue." He turned and disappeared into the undergrowth.

She nodded wordlessly while her fur prickled with unease. She could have brought that mouse to camp! Just to be cautious, she dug up the vole and sniffed it. When she was satisfied it was safe to eat she reburied it and had soon caught a plump pigeon to make up for the tainted mouse.

It's good that she's aware she needs to check for sickness... Redfrond mused I'll have to tell Bramblestar about this, he'll be pleased

By sundown, Snowpaw had added two mice, another vole, a crow, and a squirrel to her catch.
At last, when the sun had begun to dip low in the sky, Rainbird and Redfrond jumped out of their hiding spots at the same time. "You did very well!" Redfrond praised. "Rainbird has been gathering the things you've caught, so don't worry about going back. Let's go back to camp." He turned and began leading the way

“Okay, thank you.” She felt as if she had said the words a thousand times that day, but she didn’t really know what else to say. She was truly thankful. She followed Redfrond happily, though still slightly nervous about the final word on her assessment.
