He nodded and followed her orders, washing out in a nearby stream. He returned and sat down in front of her, allowing her to check him over for wounds
Floodlight found a small scratch, so she put a bit of marigold on it, but mostly for something to do. It didn’t really need a poultice, yet she was puzzling over how he had come out of a fight with a badger almost completely unharmed.

He waited patiently for her to finish.
 
Floodlight gave it a last rub and sat back on her haunches. “How old was this badger you fought?” she asked, trying to keep her tone light as she scraped the leftover herbs onto a dock leaf.
"Uh... it was young and inexperienced. The fight didn't last long." he mewed as if it was the most normal thing in the world

“Still, I’m surprised you took it on. I would have expected you to report it, but I suppose it didn’t end badly this time. Just be more careful in the future, Blackblood. Be careful where you let your paws lead you.” Her voice held more meaning than she let on, but she picked up the leaf wrap in her teeth and disappeared inside the split rock without another word.

He shrugged and left, going to go catch up on sleep
 
"ReAlLY?!" He jumped to his paws
“Yes. I think you’ve recovered enough, and the only way you’ll get more strength is by training. Just go easy at first. Don’t work yourself to the bone right away,” she warned. “I’ll have a word with Flamefrost.”

"Okay!" He agreed and raced out of the den with a joyful yowl at being able to leave the den and stretch his legs again
