“I don’t like it,” she admitted. “But sometimes we have to do things we don’t like. It... It might be for the best in the end.” She glanced sadly at Flykit, who didn’t seem to notice.

"Check by the old oak" Dustfur offered, remembering the acorns she saw scattered around it's base a couple sunrises ago. "The squirrels will be collecting and storing the last of the nuts before leaf-bare."

“I don’t think an announcement needs to be made,” she said after a slight hesitation. “I think we could just let it happen, I guess. You could tell her mentor, obviously, and by then the news will probably spread on its own. An announcement would make it seem like a big deal.”

She nodded thoughtfully. "Yeah, that would be a good place to go. Thanks." She paused for a second, then added "You know, Snowfrosts kits are almost 6 moons. I wonder who their mentors will be..."

“Okay.” She felt slightly relieved. She didn’t want all the gossip she knew would come, but it would come sooner or later anyway.

Dustfur couldn't help stiffening, but hoped her reaction was lost on Sunstrike. She eventually managed an indifferent tone and replied with a guarded expression, "I don't know. It's up to Bramblestar."
