Some of my chickens lay odd shaped, thin shelled eggs and when cracked open the white is almost like water. They are not old about a year and a half old. Others in the same flock lay nice eggs, what can i do, ive checked different diseases, they dont appear to have any disease. they get corn to snack on, table scraps, and layer crumbles. They have a adiquite coop with a large fenced yard and are let out in the evening to forge for a few hours before bed time. Any help would be appreciated, i have been researching it and i have come down to the feed content, possible high vanadium?? levels in the feed.

Do you give your chickens free choice Oyster Shells for the added Calcium? Layer formula feed doesn't really give them enough alone. I vet friend told me that they need more calcium for laying or it takes away from their bone density. You should put Oyster Shell crumbles in a separate feeder. You can also crunch up small the shells from the eggs you cook and give them to the chickens as a treat, if they need it - they will eat it.
