This morning I found 1/2 a membranous shell and runny egg on the poop board. One of my girls sleeps on the poop board and usually the other two sleep above her. I'm not sure who laid this, but it is on the side of the roost where they all sleep I was worried about the other half of the membrane being retained, but examined the girls a bit and didn't feel or see anything. Also didn't see any egg yolk on their feathers.

I finally saw the other half of the membrane on the coop floor, PHEW! I cleaned things up and gave them some free offer calcium which I haven't ever done before and added a bit more calcium to their mash mix. Anything else I should do?

They are bantam ameracaunas and have always been sporadic layers. Sometimes 3 weeks will go by and no eggs. They usually seem to be either broody or molting.

They will be 3 years in October. I thought I would take a wait and see with it. Should I be worried??

One membrane (shell less) is not a big worry for a two year old about to go into her third year. Sometimes as they age things like that happen. Being a sporadic layer if they were on layer calcium shouldn't have been a problem. The free offer calcium is a good step. Just have to wait and see if it's anon going thing.

Den in Penn, Thanks for the reassurance. I will keep a watch on them before I start to panic.
