lately some of our eggs, upon cracking to eat, have runny yolks and whites. the color is pretty milky with runny yolk in there. we gather them every day, so they are not old. it is happening about 1 in every 4-6 eggs. what can cause this?
any suggestions are helpful! thanks!

hi katy,
thanks for the reply. in the meantime i checked in a book i have here at home a little more carefully and found out that we should be collecting 2-3 times a day. we get about 15 eggs/ day and sometimes there are chicks laying or sitting in the holes when we go to collect, so some eggs maybe are in the holes until the next day. especially since some of the eggs are fertilized, we need to make sure we are collecting all of them throughout the day. i found out that the whites will be extra runny and the yolks will break upon cracking when the eggs aren't so fresh. this is whats happening, so i think that it is definitely a matter of freshness.
