I let my chickens out today and as usual the roo takes his usual large dump in the morning

Only you all will understand this, but I always watch to make sure that its healthy poo. This morning, however, it was runny and maybe a little bit of blood? It was hard to tell, cuz I was crouching down to see and they all came over, hovering looking for treats and stepped in the poo.

My chickens are all 4mos old and seem healthy. They are all eating & drinking. The roo seems fine other than the odd poo. He's crowing and doing his little "courting dance" to the girls.

They used to be on medicated feed when they were chicks, but now that they are older they are receving Purina starter & treats...any ideas? Thanks in advance

I would say that it could be Coccidiosis. Not only small chicks are plaqued with this, but adults are too. It is a organism that is in our soil and from what I've seen...all this doggon rain doesn't help!

You can either get a container of plain natural yogurt to give them all to help raise thier health to rid themselves of the cocci, or you can go and get a bottle of Sumet and treat them that way.

I have 3 year olds that had it this spring leaving them with liquid gooshes, treated them to find that the feces firmed up.

Good luck, and hope this helps. dhlunicorn has a whole section on how to deal with these types of health issues.

Also, this link takes you to a BYC conversation that may give you some good advice, https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=178142

Good
luck!
