runny noses and occasional sneezing...UPDATE now more...

I have some chickens with runny noses and occasional sneezing... The mucus is perfectly clear. But all three of them have it. They have no other symptoms should I worry? Is there something I should do? They are still in quarantine since they are new chickens.

OH, goodness. This is SUCH a good example of why quarantine is a really good idea! Kudos to you for following through.

Need more info. How long have you had them? Ages? Breed(s)? What are you using for bedding? Any chance it could be caused from a chemical odor such as fertilizer or weed killer or such?

I would not be introducing sick chickens to my flock. In fact, at the first sign that they were ill the whole lot of new birds would have been culled and disposed of off the premises. It sounds like they may have some sort of respiratory infection and that is something you don't want to mess about with. Sorry for your bad luck.

Read the many posts in the last week on this same problem. It seems that so many chickens are getting respiratory problems at this time of year or maybe it's just me because all of my own problems with the same and I am paying more attention to the problem.

Some posts are titled runny nose, sneezing, coughing or similar types of wording like rattling or breathing problems.

Just curious, but did it start with your BCM's? I am asking because it did in my flock and then progressed to my Welsumers and Wyandottes. Only my Barnevelders are still healthy and I can't figure that out.

They are a silkie trio. 2 are 1 2/2 and the other is a pullet. I had to dust them for lice, could this be from that? Also we had a bad rain last week it got to where I had to bring them in since they are in a temp. spot. I bathed them and blow dried them so they wouldn't get cold. Are there other symptoms to look for? Their noses aren't dripping just wet and then they sneeze every once in a while, I guess I should consult the vet?

after looking around online it just seems like a cold to me? I think getting rid of them would be kind of jumping the gun but then again I love the rest of my flock and don't want them sick either.....

I picked up the hen and some clear liquid just started pouring out her backside! I spoke with the vet and he seems to think it had to be coming from her reproductive organs since it was totally clear. WHAT NOW?

Their noses seemed to have cleared up since yesterday at least the pullet was the one with the problem. The hen is laying eggs normally, but her bottom is wet and dirty, like it was wet when she took a dust bath and now it's dirty. I just don't know what to do now! Someone has normal looking poop, I guess I am going to have to single them out one at a time to see what all is wrong with each one. I hope I am just being paranoid

I hope I haven't done anything to make them sick!
