Runny poo... ALL THE TIME?

Ever since the weather got colder, my chickens have had runny poo. Like all the time. Both sets: the 15 week olds and the 9 week olds. It's not bloody, just brown/white and runny. I've tried feeding them oatmeal and rice and still runny poo. I'm having a local feed store order a bag of DE.

Is there anything else I can do to help the poo be solid again? (Never thought I would be typing those words)

You can't go wrong with feeding them some yogurt. Yogurt won't cure an illness or worms, but it has worked wonders in my flock. It will help balance out the intestinal flora. When I am not seeing what I consider normal poo, I feed it to the flock, and they get right back to "textbook" poo. Use yogurt with live cultures.

Thank you guys for your helpful suggestions. Lynn, I've been feeding them yogurt for three weeks now with no results, that's why I was starting to wonder...

Then I had the crazy idea that maybe the feed-switch did it. I went from buying a Orschelen food (similiar to TSC) to buying Kent chick-go. The Kent has 20% protein and the O food had 18%. So last night I switched BACK... (so now they are back on the lower-protein diet) and this morning...

Wa-La. Normal poo.

Crazy chickens.

I would definately have them checked for worms. If they have them the treatment is inexpensive and easy to administer. It could save you from serious consequenses later. Good Luck!!!!

it isn't impossible that you got a bag of feed that was improperly mixed.

it's a mass produced product..
mistakes happen.

hope the switch does continue to solve the problem.
