One of my chickens has (as far I can tell) not been laying any eggs, and often has runny poo which gives her unfortunate poo-encrusted feathers on her rear end. she hasn't given any other signs of being sick, so i've just been keeping an eye on her. but today i noticed what looked like egg white and yolk mixed in with her poo under her perch. no shell anywhere. cause for concern? what could be causing this?

Several of my chickens laid unshelled eggs in the days preceeding the laying of their first "real" egg (and usually on the droppings board or in the litter). I would be heartened at the sight if I were you, I think it means she's READY!
