I am not new to chickens but also not as knowledgeable as I could be.

Yesterday one of our 1 week old chicks just died overnight (I did notice it sleeping more then the others). I noticed lots of runny poop in with them (I clean there area every other day and give fresh water 1-2 times daily. They are on a medicated chick starter and yesterday I added electrolytes and probiotics to their waterer. I check butts daily and have had very little issues but have had to wipe one or two chicks clean out of the now eleven chicks. My question is... should I treat for coccidia?

If so I have Albon 5% but am unsure on dosage (prescription was originally for my dogs) or can get liquid corid from my vet when I go out today.

Also if I am way off and need to treat for something else please educate me...thank you in advance

Are all of them showing symptoms? How long have they been showing symptoms? How old are they? What breed are they? (some are more susceptible to certain diseases than others).
By 5 days their will be blood in their stool if they have Coccidiosis. ( I do this as a precaoutionary when my chicks are sick hold one acting letargic on their back if its head starts shaking side to side it probably has epidemic tremor. if it is kicing and struggling aswell it just doesnt like that).

Not all of them are showing symptoms but several have yucky poo marks. I have 2 polish chicks (1-2 weeks old), 2 salmon favorolle chicks (maybe 1 week old), 1 black copper marans (1-2 weeks old), 1 light barhama (1-2 weeks old), 3 cochin full size (maybe 1 week but definitely the least feathered out and 2 have now died) and one accidental mystery chick, supposed to be cochin but is not but may be a saphire gem.

Okay, I think I found the answer here where it is given orally for most accurate dosage, not in the water, in posts 47 and 50:

I would get a weight on your chicken, either on a kitchen scale or by holding the chicken in your arms while standing on a scales, and then subtracting your weight.
Thank you so much...I did a little digging and found the dose and gave the lethargic chick albon, but the chick died. All 10 that are left look great except the poop butts on a few. I picked up corid while I was out and can dose all if needed but am really unsure if they have coccidia.

Any suggestions on treating or not treating with corid in the water?
This is a pic of my set up.

When my chicks had Coccidiosis i put 160 ml to a quart. I used liquid Corid. (where did u get the chicks? How long have u had them?) If your not sure they have coccidiosis you can try giving them the preventitive dose or waiting a few days to see if they will start pooping blood
it should take 5 days for them to start pooping blood if they have coccidiosis. u do wanna be careful waiting because coccidiosis can kill in 8 days.
good luck they are adorable little fluff balls.

Thank you, they are from Rural King and I have had them for 5 days. I will watch them carefully since there is no blood in their stool. They all still seem alert but the other two went down hill very quickly.
