So this is my first post. Been reading everything I can. Just got 35 buff Brahamas from Cackle Hatchery. One was DOA and the rest seemed OK. After 3 days we have one real little chick that is struggling. The little one is always sleeping and has trouble walking. We are hand feeding and watering to make sure it gets some food and water. We have Save-a-chick in the water. I'm worried that its not walking well and doesn't seem to have any energy. Do I go ahead and cull or keep trying. If I keep trying what should I try. My wife and I both work so there's no way we can do all day baby sitting.

On a good note the rest look great and all have taken to the nipple system for water. Fun to watch. Just fretting over the runt.

I'd just keep trying. This year, I had a runt that never grew. He died just before he reached three weeks old. He had only a little trouble walking, but never fully thrived. Still, I let him live as long as he could, as he never appeared to be suffering.

Continue hand feeding and watering it. You could also try some sugar water or some honey, or perhaps some scrambled eggs.

Good luck
