Russian orloff hen or roo

I am having a similar debate about a 13 week old orloff that does not have saddle feathers of a curved tail.... yet. I got two Russian Orloffs, purchased as hens, this weekend, born August 11 I was told, from a very reputable farm that made a delivery to my area this weekend as they are 4.5 hours drive away. When I got home, I noticed the two chickens were completely different sizes/maturity. I asked their age and was told, both born August 11. They are beautiful friendly birds and I love them already but just hoping they are both hens as I can't have roosters where I live. I'll attach photos of both but will most likely have to wait until the bigger one gets a little older to see if the feathers go roo or hen. I will also contact the farm to confirm they are the same age.

Mine looked like yours at that age. It seemed like mine sprouted saddle feathers overnight. I’m not sure if using the comb size or color would even be a safe way to go. Mine is roo and still has a very pale comb and almost non existent in size at 16 weeks, but thought he was a hen up until those saddle feathers sprouted.

I am in a very similar situation as you! My birds hatch date was 7/29. I sent my partner out to a far away farm to pick up some chicks and wanted two RO *pullets*. One has always been a bit bigger, it has a muff and beard like they are supposed to. The small one doesn’t have any face furnishings... but the comb is correct for a RO. I just don’t know what to think.

Wow, yes, very similar! I’m pretty sure the answer is “just wait” but I just want to know! .
