Russian Orloff??tell me more!!

So I posted a pic of new roo earlier (thought maybe EE)but someone answered Russian Orloff. I've done some reading and looks just like him!!He is extremely docile. He actually strayed up from the woods to the lady I got him from a year ago.I would love to get biddies off him, but was told never a fertilized eggI want to know more of this breed for sure though he sure is unique!!

I viewed your thread earlier, and thought in the back of my mind, "Boy, he really looks like an Orloff."

I didn't want to say anything if I was wrong at the risk of making myself feel silly. Anyway, I'm sooooooo jealous! That's one of my wanted breeds, but it's so hard to get them other than from Ideal poultry.

The breed actually originated in Persia before the 17th century, rather than the seemingly obvious Russian heritage. It is on the Livestock Conservancy as critically endangered, due to unpopularity. Orloffs come in several color varieties: Black, White, Spangled, Black-Tailed Red, Mahogany, and Cuckoo. They are a very calm, docile bird known to be very cold hardy and good producers of medium brown eggs. It was, at one time, on the APA's Standard of Perfection, but was taken off as breeders really didn't take interest in it.

I have to admit I was surprised last night when I put him in the pen,they (roo and 5layer hens)were a gift from moving neighbor.This is the pic I tried earlier

Thank you so much, also he is about a year old and has never crowed,just makes a soft coo instead, the BA hens are definitely dominant over him,so I hand fed him banana today,what a gentleman!!
