Russian Orloffs

I purchased these birds under the assumption they were Russian Orloff pullets.
Hatch Date 7/29/2020, 16 weeks old In photos.

The one bird def looks like a RO with its coloring, beard, muffs and comb. But I can’t tell if it’s a hen or rooster.
The other bird has always been smaller with out any facial furnishings. But has the correct coloring and comb.

What do you think?

Neither has the typical pointed hackle or saddle feathers you'd see on a rooster or cockerel. I'd say probably both pullets with one not quite being up to breed standard.

Both pullets. Your second orloff just got the recessive genes for no beard and muff, which can pop up occasionally.

Thank you both. I know to look at saddle feathers but I was just so confused by the one having a muff/beard and the other not that my brain was making me think it was a rooster and hen situation
I’m new to this breed but I enjoy them so far!

This is so strange. I had the exact question recently! I got a pair of Russian Orloff pullets that were hatched in August 2020, I got them November 15. They supposedly also had the same hatch date yet one was so much bigger and had a muff and the other one was smaller with no muff. I was afraid the bigger one was a roo though I had ordered hens. Here I am about 7 weeks later (so at this point they are about 5.5 months old) and the smaller one still doesn’t have a muff but the taller one isn’t showing any roo signs, pretty sure they are both hens. Otherwise they are great and I love them. Great breed and beautiful. I really love how tall they are and their yellow legs. (The last two photos were from the first week I had them)

Both are pullets. The one is muffed and bearded as is correct for the breed according to their Breed Standard of Perfection. The other one doesn't meet the qualifications for showing and I wouldn't breed her, but I'm sure she'll make a lovely bird.
