I also got rid of the rooster who used to keep my existing rooster away from my hen !! Did I do the wrong removal ?? The other two would touch beaks and cuddle up now all hell has broken loose. I am getting more hens so my momma isn't overly mated! :+(I just wanna keep them dry and safe and warm! Like I've had three note children !! Please if you can some more words of advice ! Hi again!

Well, you may have gotten rid of the rooster she preferred, but chickens do adjust, so don't worry. It's a great idea to get more hens for your rooster to pay attention to, that way he won't constantly be mating with the one hen. Although, sometimes roosters do pick a favorite. That hen often looks pretty raggedy. They lose alot of feathers on their back if they have a rooster that is kind of rough. You can always get a hen saddle for your hen if she looks a bit tattered. They will wear them and they come in really cute patterns. Members often sell thim here.

I would give your little flock time to adjust. The pecking order has changed now that one of the roosters is gone. They'll settle down after a week or so.

Hang in there and glad you've joined!

You got rid of the right rooster. You always want to remove the aggressive rooster and keep the more gentle rooster as you don't want to breed aggression into your flock. As chicmom said, your hens will adjust.)
