i am planning on adding to my flock

my current hens were purchased from mcmurray and vaccinated

the new chicks will likely be from a backyard breeder

once feathered out, the will be kept adjacent to the current flock for a gradual acclimatization

do the chicks need medicated food? i dont plan on vaccinating them and they will remain separate from
the flock until big enough to fend for themselves (approx 9 mnths)

They don't need medicated food, but most medicated foods just help the birds build up an immunity to cocci, so it has no withdrawl time and is just a thamine blocker. Just acclimate them to the soil so they get slow exposure to the bugs out there and can become immune early on.
