Well here I am at 2 in the morning. Searching my garage for a chick. I don't know what happened, I think my brooder is tall enough, but it doesn't have a lid. I know what everyone is going to say, get a lid. I'll try if I can. On here a lot I find that everyone seems so perfect at raising chickens. So, take this thread as a place to post some horrific deaths or accidents with your baby chicks, I need sympathy 😞

Sorry for your loss. :hugs

Did you think about rats? I lost a few many years ago, in a run with netting, to a rat.

Have a big hug

Its amazing how high they can get after a week. Most of mine in the past anyway. It depends on the breed too.

A week old chick that got out starts to peep as soon as it gets cold. Its not a good sign if you don’t hear any peeps. It just cant survive very long unless the temp outside the brooder is tropical warm.

It's warm in my garage, but ur right, I don't think it's warm enough for it to survive. No peeps, I'm assuming the worst.
