Hey guys I haven't been on this site in a while but I just wanted to update you guy on my ducks. if you guys don't know I had 2 ducks a female named Popcorn and male names Penny, I was recently having trouble with popcorn because she was having trouble standing up. I took her to the vet about 2 weeks ago and they said it was something with her joint so they gave her a shot and medicine to reduce swelling. She was getting better but 2 days ago they got out of their cage and something attacked them, we're thinking it was a dog because just about a week ago we noticed some random dogs in the neighborhood. Penny survived with a couple of cuts on her wing, I already scheduled an appointment with the vet to make sure it's not anything too bad. But my poor Popcorn did not survive, I feel so awful because she was finally starting to recover. She was already swimming on her own and taking more steps on her own. I called the local dog catcher to come and pick up the dogs. We fixed the cage again to make sure this wont happen again, but my main concern is penny. Will she get sick because he will miss his partner, should I get a new duck for him, or should I leave him in a pond with other ducks? Any suggestions will help.

So sorry for your loss. PLEASE, don't leave your duck in a pond with random ducks....it's not only illegal but also a pretty sure death sentence. Your duck is a domestic and knows nothing of life in the wild on its own. Getting a buddy once your duck is all healed and feeling well would be the best idea. Introducing this soon after a trauma, both physically and psychologically, could make the bonding rocky. Again, sorry for your loss

Thank you for the advice I really don't wanna leave in him either because i know he wont survive, but its super hard for me to find another duckling in my area. hopefully I find someone for him because I don't wanna see him suffer. :hit
