Sad news about Preston the alpaca

There is a farm with 60 alpacas moving 15 minutes from my house in a month. I can't wait. She is more than willing to help me out. She said she will have several alpacas that will work for me. I am excited. I can't wait to get another one.

That is wonderful to find one so close. Sounds like she will be able to help you out learning about them and have her close for any questions as I know I had a lot of them when I first started and I sure made a lot of phone calls to other breeders in the area.

The best thing is you will see 60 of them and each one will have a different personality it is so funny to watch.

Wow! just found this thread, FANTASTIC to know theres people fairly near me that have Alpaca. I brought home 2 adult boys tonight that are around 3 years old. This was answering a 40 year old dream of having them. First time I saw Alpaca i was 9 years old, and have hoped to have my own someday. Spent the afternoon with the owner meeting them, and learning their care, fitting the halter and just getting to know about them. I loved the hummmming all the way home! They are a little spooked from the trip, so its easy does it the first few days. These guys were loved and adored but i think they are shaken that they left their home. No agression, just obvious fear. Any good advice will be welcomed to win their trust..

I don't have Preston anymore, but I do have two show female Llamas and two female alpacas. Both pairs are mother and daughter. The llamas should be bred for winter babies. Here is my girls.

Oh so sorry about Preston.May i ask, what happened? I know you found out his papers weren't right. Hope he is ok.

Yes he had the wrong papers, but I couldn't find him another alpaca to have as a friend. I tried for couple of months. Then I found someone wanting to raise their own alpacas and they wanted him as a friend to one of theirs. So he went to them. Last time I talked to him, Preston was doing great with the other alpacas.

There's an alpaca farm about 40 minutes from us. I love it when we get to drive by it. I hate it when they are all in the back pasture and I don't get to see them. If we had the land I think I could talk my hubby into one easier than a horse.
