Sad News

It's with sad news I have to announce that the oldest Northern Bobwhite I had has passed on to it's greater reward! He was 11 years old!!!

This was the same male that was featured in the thread 'Awesome surprise' https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/awesome-surprise.1422275/

I am sorry for your quail's passing.

I don't know anything about the normal lifespan, but 11 years sounds like a very long time for a quail to live -- and to leave you with some incredible memories.

Well, given the right environment and a strict biosecurity program, it's very possible. I noticed he wasn't his chipper self, several months ago. Finally, yesterday afternoon he was by the waterer and just rested there and passed away!

My oldest cat, Widget is on her last day. She's 20.5 and has been slowly fading for the last few weeks. 3 days ago, she barely ate anything, and as of yesterday, stopped eating and drinking entirely. She's on an old sweatshirt on my bed now. I'm making sure to pet her every time I walk by and make sure to walk by often. She'll be gone any time now.
