Sad, sad day.

I'm so sorry! Chickens are so special, it's just not the same once they're gone. I truly know how it feels to lose a loved pet.
Tell your brother I know exactly how it feels to loose a wonderful rooster.
Those chickens are in a better place now.

Thank you so much Peep! And I will surely pass on the message!!! And yes, they are in a better place now.

This is incredibly sad. I can't imagine what a shock it must have been to you. So very sorry. I hope you have a way to keep the neighbors' dogs out and your chickens secure when you get the new ones.

Yes, it was terrible. I guess the neighbors are putting up an invisible fence around their yard to keep the dogs out of our yard. I don't know what they're doing really.

Beautiful chickens. I would get rid of the dogs next time. The invisible fenc will be a joke.I would be insulted if they did not fence in their dogs or give them away.Guess they have a cash fund set up to pay off neighbors instead of being responsible dog owners.

No amount of money can make up for the emotions we experience finding our feathered friends torn to pieces.Shame on them for allowing this to happen over and over.Hugs to you and your brother.Fence in your chickens until you are sure they do the same with the dogs otherwise you can expect more chickens to be killed.

Me, I would fence in the chickens and when the dog comes I would shoot it or take it for a one way trip.

Thank you. And I know, they should be more responsible. But the dogs do have cages and I hope they keep them in there till they find out a way for the dogs not to come on our yard. If the dog/s do come back on our land ever, we'd shoot it.

Sorry to hear about this!

It is one of my biggest fears! I don't let my dog(s) run loose ever but, I have a neighbour who thinks it is "cruel" to tie or fence a dog. She swears the dog never leaves her yard BUT, I saw her just 2 days ago about 3 houses away! On top of that we live on a 4 lane highway....sure, keeping the dog confined is cruel, letting it get hit by a car is not.

The good news is, so far, the dog has not gone after the chickens that live on her other side. She has only had the dog a couple of months though.

I despise irresponsible dog owners! Things like this make my blood boil!
