My big, fat BO decided that she wanted to hatch out chicks about 2 weeks ago. I went ahead and let her try to become a mama hen
She had 6 eggs under her, 3 of them were Guinea Fowl eggs. Yesterday, I looked in her nesting box, and to my horror, I saw an egg cracked open and a deformed chick on the hay
I was SO sad!!! My poor hen was soaked in egg yolk
After I cleaned her up, I set her back on the now spotless nesting box. It was a sad experience for me
And I have no idea how it happened either, but the past is in the past and I am sure the hen has forgotten about the experience by now.
I know these things sometimes happen, but it is always surprising when you are the person experiencing it!
