Obviously you'll want to do a different color paper if it's a white bird though. I have to do this with my red and blues occasionally

Yes, any solid-colored bird can be tricky this way.

Most of my blue boys have had enough darker blue on their backs to make the saddles show clearly, but the blacks can be very difficult.

I just called it that because that's where the balls lay within the bird
