"Safe" eggs?

Thank you both.

I've been scrambling the dirty eggs and feeding them back to the chickens, shell and all. We have a Maran who can't seem to lay an intact egg no matter the minerals she eats and she consistently baptizes the other eggs with hers. :(

Some hens will have issues like that, especially as they get older. We have two laying thin shelled eggs right now, which break and make a mess. With more effort on my part, figuring out who they are would be best. And then that 'final solution', also not what I want to do.

This is the egg I found tonight. It was right under the roosts, so ignore the poop. It's the worst that she's layed.
I hate to think of the final solution too, but that may happen when we harvest our meat chickens this fall.

I also have my girls in a different area, so I often visit them on alternate days. I always take and eat any eggs, regardless of the temps. Then they sit on my dining room table until I'm ready to cook them. We haven't had any issues.
