Welcome! That first egg is going to be VERY expensive! It's so worth it, though. Minimum space in the coop is four or five sq. ft. per bird, and maybe ten sq. ft. in the run per bird. Build as large and safe as you can, you won't regret it. Having safe electrical outlets and lighting pays off too; coop fires are horrible, and cost much more that $200!
I had an electrician check mine out and add outlets last year; everything in conduit and up to code. I sleep better, and my farm insurance folks are happier too. And more likely to cover any losses!
