IWe just had to butcher an egg bound hen. It was a very messy time cleaning out all the parts as all were slippery from the yolks inside of her. We got everyting out and washed out the cavity but my husband raised the question of because she had something wrong inside is she safe to eat. She was still alive but clearly not feeling well. I hope someone can answer as she is in the fridge resting.

Since it was just to do with her reproductive system and nothing contagious, I don't see why not. You took all the parts out that were affected.

If there was any kind of infection, I wouldn't eat it. Otherwise, go for it.

It will be fine to eat. Sort of in the same category as a broken leg. Not good for the chicken that has it, but not contagious.
