I'm wanting to purchase some fertilized eggs on Craigslist to put under my broody. Do I need to worry about disease when purchasing eggs? And if so, what do you do about it?

There aren't very many diseases that travel through eggs. There's no way to know positively that you aren't getting one, put people do it all the time with no problems. I say go for it!

Thanks for the reply. What about something being on the egg. Not an issue?

I suppose technically it could be an issue, but it's not likely. Think about how many people sell hatching eggs on this site alone every day, not to mention eBay, eggbid, etc.

OK, thanks. I'm gonna go for it. I've got three broody hens right now.

I've given up on ever collecting eggs again. Figure I might as well take advantage of it and hatch something new.
