Safe worms for chickens to eat?

It didn't look like a gummy worm, but my husband told me that our neighbors trash blew into the yard a few days ago. It looks like she dug it out of the ground. If it is rubber, do you think it will pass through? It is a gummy worm I guess she got a sugar high! I got a good enough look at it that I didn't see a hook. She seemed sooo proud of herself for finding it! I guess if it wasn't edible maybe she wouldn't have gulped it down like that?

I'm guessing it'll pass. Either way, there's not much you can do about it. One of my chickens found a huge elastic, super thick rubber, about 3/8" wide, and 1/8 - 1/4" thick. Luckily, I caught it before she snarfed that down. chickens will eat what ever they can find... worse than toddlers. My grandson, once devoured a lady bug when he was creeping around in my house, and he declared it quite tasty!

Thanks! She seemed ok last nigh, but will watch her. I know she enjoyed her little treasure she found. And ladybugs? I guess toddlers haven't yet quite developed their tastebuds! :)

The cabbage worms will be fine if they will eat them. I'm sometimes surprised at what they will not eat. That can vary from one flock to the next or even in different stages of their life.
