Treating for yeast at the moment. Two times per day and will have completed my seven days in three days. One has yeast at the vent. The other seems to be sour crop. If anyone has been following me, the details have been posted. After further examination of the poop, I am thinking that perhaps I should do the worm treatment. I hate to throw in the towel on the yeast treatment as I am so far into it. I am leaving for vacation in one week. My chicken sitters will not be able to Handle any of this. Thinking maybe if the underlying issue causing the diarrhea is worms that worming them would be the right answer. However, one of them is barely eating very thin and this is been going on for sometime. Not sure if she would make it through the worm treatment. Worming is new to me. I have never done it before.

Yes, miconazole and Nystatino can be used at the same time. Can you post pictures of the poop? Dosage of SafeGuard Liquid Goat Wormer is 1/4 ml per pound given orally 5 consecutive days. That will treat most chicken worms except tapeworms.

Couldn’t get the poop pictures today, but my question is can I do the goat worming at the same time I am treating for yeast. Will they survive or go into overload? Not sure if it’s worms causing the yeast problems/diarrhea. And I am already four days into the yeast treatment.

First 2 are Demi. The crop issue girl. Not eating just drinking excessive amount. Holding neck in a very strange position. almost like.an S. Puffed head. And not looking like she’s long for the world. I have started the goat wormer as well as the nystatin for both. The nystatin treatment is almost complete as of tomorrow seven days twice a day. I rolled out blockage because the crap was squishy and not emptying. It is completely empty now and hardly gets anything in it during the day.

The second two are the girl that shows no symptoms, but excessive diarrhea and a bald bottom from the white yellowish poop hanging on the feathers

I examined Dolly/vent problem, girls poop yesterday which is what made me decide to start worming. I soaked her in Epson salt water. It didn’t go very well. But I was able to get some nystatin around and slightly into the vent.

Dolly is totally fine other than the diarrhea. Each time I try to do the treatments she shoots Poo across the room as she is nervous.

A picture of how she holds her head might show if she might have wry neck, a neurological condition that is a result of a vitamin E deficiency, head injury, or an infectious disease. Fungus is a cause of yeast infection, sour crop, or vent gleet. Worming should not have a bad effect. But you could wait, or send a sample of poop to your vet for a fecal float to rule out parasites. Probiotics can help with digestive problems and help to get the good gut bacteria back to normal. Probios powder or the generic from feed stores or online is good. I would try to get her eating more.

I just read an article on wry neck since you
mentioned it. She is drinking and she doesn’t hold her head down. I have been giving her probiotics including yogurt. I have tried mash. Oatmeal, hard boiled egg scrambled eggs and still don’t really feel anything in her crop.

Currently treating for the yeast and the worms. Her crop feels empty always and at first it wouldn’t empty over night. Sometimes it looks like she’s eating a bit, but not sure if she’s faking to hide how she feels.

It’s almost like maybe she has a blockage in her esophagus somehow. She flips her head up and scratches at her neck. She has that slimy looking white, yellowish Poo coming out on her feathers also. She comes out of the coop when I allow it and stay with her and walks around. Stands a lot behind a bush though. That’s how I originally noticed. Something was wrong. Hard to catch so not lethargic. Today she was dust bathing and sunning her wing wide-open. Maybe she’s coming around. Just concerned she is down to 4 pounds.

This is the worst part of Chicken keeping not knowing how to help. I guess I am going to just continue as is as I am approaching the end of this treatment. I started treating six days ago for yeast and yesterday for worms. I would assume she would not still be alive if she hasn’t eaten in that long.

I thought if it was a blockage, the crop was hard. It was squishy, which is why I thought it was sour crop. I was rubbing her neck today and I can’t tell if it’s just the neckbone or if I felt a lump.

So hard

I would look into her beak and throat for any yellow material or something that should not be there. There is bony cartilage around the trachea in the front of the neck, so that could have been what you felt. Hard to know. Do you have any pictures of her?

It is so hard for me to keep her mouth open long enough to even give the medication. I do look in when I finally get it open but don’t have long. She gets it closed again.

I will take pictures tomorrow of her. Maybe I noticed it so much because she is so thin. Neck seems weird shape maybe it is that wry neck thing. I don’t even know anymore. Nystatin treatment is done for her. Did twice a day since last Friday. Now will finish the worming did 2nd dose tonight. 3 more days to go on that. I can’t believe she is still living. She is all bones.

On the good side of things she is perching now at night. Before she was sleeping in nest box and staying on floor.

I guess I will start to try and treat for wry neck next. Crop just always seems empty. I see her drink and think I see her eat mash and she pecks at ground when I let her out with me for fresh air. I think she may want to eat but can’t. Making mouth open and close too tonight I saw.

Disregard me treating for wry neck. Read another article on it and it really doesn’t seem like that. She is drinking and perching and not seeming off balance.

What’s yellow stuff you refer to? Attached are some pictures. She does kind of have her neck arched and puffed. I was not able to look in her throat, but I am able to get the worm medicine down. I just finished the nystatin treatment seven days twice a day.
