I live near Houston and the summers here are extremely hot. I was curious if anyone knew of some good summer varieties for salad, kale and spinach?.

You can read some articles about keeping your chickens cool in the summer, there are a lot of great options other than salad. You can check out my article, too, if you want, in my profile. :)

I’m aware of that I was just curious of some varieties that can grow in summer. I’ve heard of some people doing it.
Everything I have tried bolts after 70-80 degrees. Spinach seems to bolt immediately here no matter how soon I start it. Sure be interested in hearing too if someone has had better success growing it in warmer weather.

Not sure if it’s worth the trouble but he seems to be able to do well

Australian yellow looseleaf and red chard.
Put jute around other lettuces. And keep them from direct sun. The jute will keep moist longer. Put an soda-bottle with water next to them, upside-down in the ground. In these degrees they like shadow.
