Salem chickens

I need to know if salem, Oregon alows chickens and if so how many are allowed. How about roosters? Thanks

As of last summer when we moved from Salem to Washington, there were lots of spirited debates going on, but the City Council decided to uphold the prohibition of any backyard chickens in urban areas not zoned for agricultural use. There's plenty of "stealth" coops around, though...

Best approach: call the Animal Control officer for the city and ask what the latest is on the controversy.

My vote for most retarded comment by a chicken-hating realtor in the city: "What's next? A llama? A pig? You want chickens, then get a farm."

So you see what you're up against...
