Sally's GF3 thread

We have so many squirrels.
They will empty the bird feeders. They have even learned to shake and tilt the squirrels resistant one.

Healthy devils too. They love strawberries. They eat the green ones too. Love, love blueberries.

Last year we planted 2 figs. Caged them because of deer.
Senior moment...did not enclose the top. Cages are 5 ft tall . Squirrels climbed in. They like figs too. Not nary a fig for me. :barnie

All my edibles have to live in broody jail. :idunno

Not to mention i almost got a dozen peaches this year.

Almost.

It is very hard to put in the work for a crop and lose it all to the critters. I asked hubby how his boss's son keeps the birds out of his cherry trees.

They have something set up to go BOOOM! at random intervals. Not anything I can replicate, unfortunately.

The only color for a car that makes any sense out here is Dirt Road Dirt.

My last car was black. We called it Guinness, because it was black and tan, but the colors were reversed.

SimpleJenn, a member here on BYC, lost her entire flock, and the suspicion is HPAI. No testing (that I know of), but the signs were there and they all passed within a few days. She's about 65-70 from me.

I don't free range my flock, and their run is covered. Still, this has shaken me to my core.

I spoke with her briefly. She said they all died within 3 hours. While I know that it's possible that they all died from a virus, the rapid mortality rate makes me wonder if it wasn't something released nearby, a chemical perhaps. The expression "canary in a coalmine" is apt because birds react to pollutants much quicker than humans. After the train derailment in East Palestine OH there was a lady on video crying about all her flock dropping dead.

Either way, Jenn has my deep sympathy.
