Sally's GF3 thread

I have read that those aquiring houses for inflated prices are then renting them for inflated prices. I see that on my street, as people pass away their houses are sold and turned into rentals. And they're expensive rentals for little 1970s ranch houses.
They probably fix them up

That is what they're doing in town. Way out here, the buyers are people who want to live way out of town, where it's quiet, or where they can have a garden/homestead. Or grow pot. Or have roosters.

But if there's land involved, it's often a farmer or a developer.
It's for sale! 1.5 million an acre. Have a nice day.
Yeah! Start throwing out numbers that start with a "B" and you'll get my attention. I'll still say NO! but you'll get my attention! :lau
Do you walk on the other land at all?
It's funny... we walk out on "the field" as we call it, just about every day with Freya. Our original 8 acres with the house is on a river. I bet it's been over 10 years since I've been down to the river.

The operative word is DOWN. The river is probably about 90-100 feet below the side yard. Not an easy walk down, and even harder back up.

Can you put in steps, like railroad ties?

Hubby cleared a trail down to the river long ago. We rarely go down there, so it's probably something that would be at the bottom of the to do list. Lots of trees, so it would be a challenge to put in anything.

I was told the best fishing spot in the county on this river is my property. Have I tried it? Nope. Not in 31 years. Part of the lack of interest is because we are the "down wash" between acres of farm fields and the river. I'm not sure I want to eat the fish; I'm not much of a fish fan anyway.

Mini rant about the builder of this house, and I'm sure I have said this before. The four houses on this road with river frontage have river views. Ours? Nope. The house is built back too far from the crest of the hill to see the river. All the windows in the house face north or south; the river is to the west. The most western wall of the house is... the garage.

However...! We are at the end of the dead end road. It is Q-U-I-E-T back here. ❤️ Location, location, location.

We've thought of building an up north place on the back 40. My brother's farm has a lake back there on his. Mine has a view. We would each get nearly all the benefits of an up north place without fighting any traffic or dealing with upkeep from a distance. Or needing to find someone to do the chores.

Or maybe a "storage shed" with a lot of windows. Insulated, with heat and maybe air conditioning. And a refrigerator or ice box. Where we could store a few comfortable chairs, a couple of tables for eating, playing cards or board games, or doing puzzles.

I've watched this guy's channel, and feel as if I could build my own cabin:
