My second batch of chicks had two salmon faverolles. They were not a huge fan of being held but they enjoyed being near me. I honestly didn’t hold them all that often, but they have grown to be very friendly with me and enjoy being held. Both are hens now and are honestly not the brightest of chickens. They also sound a lot different than my other hens! Here is a photo of one of my chicks with her baby wing feathers just coming inThat’s awesome. Do you happen to have any pictures of them as babies? I know we are so excited that we were able to get some. They sold out within the first hour that they came in!! Also how were they as young chicks? Were they a little bit skittish? Did you have to hold them often so that they got used to you?
I do think they are more of a skittish breed. You have to kind of announce your presence before putting your hand down or they freak out, more than most I noticed. But I had 2 that would jump into my hand when I would put it down, one female and one male. When I go out to the coop they all come running when they hear me and several jump right up to my shoulderThat’s awesome. Do you happen to have any pictures of them as babies? For sure a cockerel, the black chest feathers is a dead giveaway as they are male specific.I am going to piggy back here! We are at about 4 weeks. Fairly certain I have a roo, though I don't see dark on the chest. Plus, the tail still hasn't really come in and all of my other chicks this age have full tails. Thoughts?
You should be able to tell the gender by 3 -4 weeks. That’s usually when the chest feathers come in.Can anyone help me to determine the sex of these 1 week old baby salmon faverolle chicks!!???? I'm like 90% sure these are all males?? Thoughts?
Awesome love the pictures ! They really are beautiful chickens . I heard from another person that they are very oblivious to their surrounds when they free roam so have to watch them . But I love how they are so chill and sit on your shoulder hahaI do think they are more of a skittish breed. I just love them! It’s hard to clean the coop though because they just jump up on me or are right under my feet following me. They do sound different than other chickens and I love it!
Here is an updated picture of the Faverolles ! About a week old . I know we don’t know the sex yet but want to do weekly pictures .
