I have a pair of SF's that are breed standard. I ordered some hatching eggs from someone in TX that were supposed to be from SQ stock (and I know you don't always get the same quality in the hatchlings) but the chicks (I only ended up with 2) have green eyes instead of the red bay that they are supposed to have. My question is, how big of a deal is this? I don't know enough about eye color in genetics to know if I breed the females with the green eyes with my red eyed male, will the chicks have red eyes like they are supposed to have? Or are these chicks useless to the SF breeding program I am trying for? They have pretty good spacing on their toes, and they do have a few black wing feathers, but my good female lost the last of her black when she hit a year old, so I'm not as worried about that...

Thanks in advance!!!

I don't know a thing about Faverolles, but I do know that my Buff Orps had blue eyes when they were chicks, and they have goldish eyes now. So, are they still young? Is there a chance that their eye color could change as they mature?

I was wondering that too....I didn't know if they are like puppies that way...I didn't even pay the slightest attention to the eyes of the chicks I bought for layers this year, because it didn't matter with them. thanks!

I have the standard right here so the following is your description , are yours bantam or lg?
This covers both

All it says about thier eyes, is large, prominent.
, neck short, thiick well arched.

doesnt say much of anything about eye color for this breed

Wow - she is beautiful!! Mine are large fowl...I read "somewhere" that they are supposed to have red bay eyes, can I remember where that was? Of course not. Thanks!

Hi
The American Standard of Perfection has the color of the Faverolles eyes as reddish bay & the shape large and prominent.

That's what I thought - thanks...I have a PM out to a Fav breeder asking the color-change question to see if they've seen that in their chicks.
